Spring has sprung

Postby alison on Thu Mar 05, 2009 2:35 pm

Today it is so beautiful. :D The sun has been shining all morning and has melted the beautiful hard frost we had during the night. :)
The pond has been transformed with the sight of the marsh marigold flowering. We only have one flower on the Japanese monster marsh marigold but because it is large compared to the normal marsh marigold which is clumped nearby and not flowering yet, it looks so bright and majestic. I am going to go out and see if anything else is coming into bud or flower on the pond, but just that one flower has brightened us up so much. :D :D

Noticed the Water Hawthorn is sending up a flower spike - thought I'd lost this plant as it normally has leaves all winter but had lost them all this year leaving me thinking there was just a pot of gravel left.
No flowers yet on the Marsh Marigold, but it has a good head of leaves.

I'm going to have to split the water lilys before they get going again as the root is very large now. Never done this before so any advise welcomed
