Collard Doves

Postby alison on Fri Apr 11, 2008 1:35 pm

We have in our garden a large sycamore tree which houses a large magpie nest which used to be a crows nest until the magpies moved in. Each year they make it larger and manage to breed a few youngsters. Also the birds that come to roost upon it's branches are 9 collard doves, 4 wood pigeons and 19+ starlings. Lots of little birds rest a while on it along with a squirrel. We also put the nesting boxes on the trunk of the tree for blue tits etc.
In February Sonny took this picture of 2 collard doves.
