As it is the school holidays 3 of the grandchildren have been staying with us whilst the others have only visited. Lucy who is 9 decided that she thought there was a little mouse in the garden as things had been nibbled so she made a little house for him out of moss in the circular soil gap beneath the japanese maple tree in the back garden. She put quartered apples and bird seed and covered them over with the moss. The next morning everything had been eaten. She was quite excited so the following night she did the same and come the next morning all had been eaten. Every night she has done this but I am inclined to think it is a hedghog rather than a small mouse. What do you think? I know we have had hedghogs in the past so it would be lovely if it was. Is there any other foods that it would like? I know people put out cat food but we have lots of cats already using the garden so want to think of something else that the cats may not eat.
