Here are a few of the butterflies seen at the weekend. I do not know what they are called.

Hello,

The top one is a Small Tortoiseshell and the other is a Small Heath. Both are common in Britain

You're as bad as Nikki. She logged on as a new person and you have done the same. Weren't you Vulpine hunter?? Anyway are you okay? Hope all is sorted now.
Took Abigail and Rachel to Tropical world today and saw quite a few butterflies. I like the giant ones but they are always feeding when I see them so never see the open wings. There were some black ones with blue stripes that I haven't seen before.

They are lovely pictures Sam. I love butterflies and it is lovely to go to a place where they are flying freely above our heads. The only thing with going to Tropical World is that it is very humid with the mists, water and heat. It plays havoc with my breathing. It is lovely though as they even have some small birds flying round and 2 huge blue Macaws which sit right at the top of the roof space.
One thing I have noticed this time though is the koi look a bit bedraggled. A few of them have green like patches on their skins and some look like they have had them, and those scales have now come off. They are huge. (the fish not the patches  ) I noticed it more on the dark grey koi. The ones inside the place are okay it seems just on the ones that are in the outside pools.

Great photos - Sam, were yours taken in the garden? How did you get them to sit still long enough to take a photo? - I have many a shot of half a butterfly, or a leaf where a butterfly sat just seconds before...

Yes Anyanka ... just taken this year in the garden
I used a zoom lens which meant I wasn't too close as to scare them off :)
Here's another shot of the Peacock, taken looking up into a buddlei bush
Almost like a 'stealth fighter'
